Hey Jordan,
Hope you can get the new hubb and wheel set up and replaced soon.

We have a few knowledgable DR650 guys here on HUBB, even more on
DRriders forum and probably the Aussie DR forum. I would study up best you can while your sitting waiting on parts.

It's weird, but lots more failures seem to happen to Oz based DR's than anywhere else in the world. NSU problems, gear box failures, Hubb bearing failures ... all fairly common among Oz DR riders based on my reading the forums for 10 years.

In USA and Canada we hardly hear a peep about any of these problems. Here in California there are LOTS of DR riders and many do off road. Most USA DR riders simply commute on this "Cheap and Cheerful" bike, so that explains some of the contrast vs. Aussie DR650 riders.

Also, I'm sure you know of the many RTW DR650 riders, most have Ride Reports on ADV Rider. I recommend reading them ALL if you have time.

In my unorganized riding group (60 odd riders, all sorts of bikes) We have 5 DR650 riders ATM. Most of these guys own 2 or 3 other bikes so only ride the DR part time.

But the DR is a BIG favorite for dual sport off road work riding the Black Rock Desert (Nevada), Death Valley area, California Sierra Nevada mountains and Baja (just a short run to the border for us) .

Among these DR riders we've had almost Zero problems over the last 10 years. One NSU failure (this on a friends bike with a dark and history of abuse), NO rear Hubb bearing failures and one blown engine from Lack of Oil (long story behind this ... but basically, owners fault 100%).

Some have done Hubb bearings preventatively however, and that is not a bad idea ... if you install the bearing CORRECTLY ... some have got this wrong.

I hope you will consider posting up your travel reports here on HUBB as well as your Blog. In my experience, not many are willing to chase down a Blog ... too many to follow.

If you post your ride reports hare on HUBB travel tales then EVERYONE IN THE WORLD can see it. Sort of "one stop shopping". Easy to follow with notification sent out every time you post an update. This is what makes HUBB work and makes it possible for the kind of help your getting from the community in
Austria.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
