French Clean Air Certificate

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of the Clean Air Sticker required in France?

Here are three links that should provide you with the necessary information:

Official Government of France Clean Air Certificate Information for vehicles registered outside of France

French Tourism (France.fr)

Royal Auto Club - UK

Lastly, here is a link to a website that explains what cities require a clean air certificate to be displayed:

I've bought two of them in the last 12 months - one for each of our main cars. They're easy to buy on line, with an English version of the site if you don't speak French. They're cheap but they do take a little while to arrive - each one of ours took around 3 weeks, and that was sending them to an address in France so it might be even longer if they have to be sent 'abroad'.

We bought them because we travel through Grenoble a lot, and that's one of the early adopter cities. However - I've never seen any evidence of anyone inspecting them. I've driven through Grenoble in all sorts of weather conditions in recent years and its never been an issue. That's not to say it's a waste of time and I might have just been lucky but our stickers are currently residing in the car glove boxes, not on the windscreen, so if anybody is checking them, old UK tax disc style, they've not checked ours.

I bought one for my bike, just keeps everything simple in case I need to travel through a Crit'Air zone. It's easy and not expensive.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
