Good tarmac all the way and 3 longish days riding (done it), albeit a bit boring across the steppes.
I believe ferries still go from there to Georgia - but I could be wrong.
You only need one Visa (you hold a GB Passport I believe) - Russia.
Russian Embassy Visa Fees vary as to which country you apply from - I believe Finland is about the cheapest, GB the most expensive. EST?
There is of course still no land crossing between Russia and Georgia proper- but the border could reopen as quickly as it closed.

Don't know about Estonia, but if the difference between here and finland is more thana ferry ticket it is worth investigating closely!! Thanks
