I've heard this... on left hand drive models, if you give it too much beans in the rough stuff, the axle/top of diff/propshaft can smack and break the oil sump.....
good design....

Wow... that ranks up there with the timing belt and gearbox issues. Come on Landrover get your act together!!!
If they can build vehicles that by all accounts work very well (Disco 3) then I reckon this proves they have effectively abandoned the Defender... Go buy a Santana.

Gil, your prayer has been heard! LR has been sold to Tata Motors, with all those timing belt, gearbox and now the axle issues. Here's what it's going to look like soon:

Maybe the Defender replacement will be a telcoline pickup mated with an Indica.... Rudyard Kipling would be spinning in his grave <BG>
Joking apart Tata are doing REALLY well in Ghana, so we bought 7 of their 407 light trucks... When we checked them we found one had a bloody great crack in the turbo housing which had been welded up!!! Brand new vehicle. Then all 7 had to have the starter motors replaced.
"When I first opened the bonnet and noticed an in-built light and switch for the engine bay, I should of realized what I was to come." - Tata pickup owner on carsurvey.org!!
Marriage made in heaven I reckon:confused1:

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
