Viaterra Claw, Indian Tail-bag for under 40€

I came across this as a possible luggage carrying option for the trip I'm planning this summer on my Kawasaki Er5, as the title says, it's a full size tail pack for just 38 euros which seems to be getting excellent reviews. It seems to be large enough for my needs at least, and comes with a rain cover.

Only slight problem is that it's produced in India and costs another 40€ to post to Europe. Still worth it though as similar soft luggage options cost close to 200€ from what I've seen.

Any opinions before I splash out and get one ?

My brother and I both have them and they are a nicely made bag. I would say that the main thing to consider is that they are water resistant, not waterproof, and the strapping system is not as well thought out as some other bags. The bag does come with a rain cover, but this is held on simply by means of an elastic band. It looks like a giant shower cap.

My brother has logged some multi day camping adventures with his strapped to a Suzuki DR650 and it has held up well.

The people who make these are good folks who ride also.

A good quality compression bag could be an option. They are 100% waterproof, easy to attach to your bike, fold away to almost nothing when empty and cost a lot less than $200. Something like Ortlieb is good but there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
