Sleeve zip
Some people have complained about the zips on the sleeves says that they undo themselves and that they could do with some sort of strap or tab around the wrist to keep the sleeve in place if the zip does undo itself. Any comments? Is this true?

I've been wearing the Sand Jacket all summer. No problem with any of the zips yet. Both the zip that closes the sleeve and the sleeve vent zip stay where they're put.

I tried the jacket on in the store. It looks great, and has some nice details with the collar and vents. Only two pockets on the front (which may not be waterproof) was disappointing. I did wonder about the zips on the sleeves too.

I'm also not sold on thermal or waterproof liners. Thermal liners can easily be replaced by wearing more layers, which can also be used when not wearing the jacket. Waterproof liners just seem like a pain to put in when it starts raining.

Looks can be deceiving - the previous version the OffTrack with the Dakar pant was quite simply awesome. The temperature range and durability was outstanding. The new version is a bit too shiny but if it has any DNA from the previous one, you will not be dissappointed with the sheer comfort and versatility of this Rev'it kit. Relatively affordable too.

You might want to look at the First Gear Rainier TGP Jacket. Very well made, lots and lots of pockets, has a thermal liner but no waterproof liner - the jacket shell is waterproof. The only drawback I found was the D30 armor (see discussion here) but that could be replaced if you like the jacket otherwise.

Thanks, I'll take a closer look at the Rainier. I'm about to do a rather long tour in Aussie, hopefully with a lot of 4WD tracks, so I'm leaning towards an Acerbis Koerta pressure suit for my armour needs. That way I can just wear the Koerta in slow terrain to prevent overheating. My current jacket is an old Marsee Adventure, which has held up very well, but doesn't vent so good.

Are these jackets available in the UK, or sold here under another name? I like the idea of a jacket where the outer shell is waterproof, avoiding, I would hope, the problem of having a water saturated jacket to deal with in a tent etc. Any ideas anyone? Is there anything similar sold here, if not that actual jacket?

thinking much the same way too,

I saw this jacket in HeinGericke last weekend, just may do the job.
its the EXPLORER GORE-TEX.
the shell is Goretex, so no need to fit the liner when it pours down

nope no problems with the zips on the sleeves. To be honest this was my main concern when i decided whether to but this kit but it really just stays as it should. And with hot temps you will absolutely start to love tthe zips on the sleeve btw Also with getting your gloves off and on these zips are VERY handy! So my concerns where taken away quite fast and with my next kit i want these zips again :P

I have a Sand jacket and pants.

The right sleeve undo's itself sometimes, but only if it wasnt properly closed all the way. I dont consider it a problem.
But its placed in a way that rain gets through easily, because the zipper isnt waterproof.

With the pants, the upper pocket zippers sometimes undo themselves also, if their not properly closed. But that depends on the clothes I wear underneath/how tight it fits.

The pants melted when they touched the exhaust header while riding. I had them repaired with a patch of non-melting/burning fabric. I didnt have this problem with my old Revit pants.

Overall Im satisfied with the set. Im planning on using it on 4month biketrip.

I made a mistake when ordering. The pants are black (as inteded) but the jacket white/silver. In the summer I found it to be a big advantage, a lot cooler, which is nice for the body.
