Trust me, once you get used to wearing a Camel Back ... you will never go back. Once it's on your back ... in 5 minutes you forget it is there.

Your water is ALWAYS there for you ... small sips are best if really HOT ... never gulp down large amounts of water. Camel Back is perfect for this ...you never have to stop to drink. Hands free! Small sips all day!

I'm an old guy too (67) and have been using Camel Back drinking systems for over 20 years. They are not new. Where have you been?

I have one in paragliding , i have seen some on runners, hikers on trail and so on .
It is just a choice : I dont like to have something on my back when I ride . If i want to drink, i stop . Because on tours I like to stop sometimes also .

1+ for hydration packs! Molly is right - once you use one you never go back. I bought a 2.5lt camelbak which fits directly into my riding jacket - unless it's full I don't notice it's there after a few minutes.

It's very useful to be able to drink whilst riding rather than having to stop and take off helmet, Buff, open tank bag, unscrew bottle. etc. Staying properly hydrated on motorcycles in hot climates is difficult and as important as any other safety procedure so anything which assists that is worth a try.

As for Giant Loop - been using one now for over 35,000k. It's survived several offs and so far the buckles, zips and straps have held up. I really applaud GL for using high quality materials and plastics. I rely on those little plastic buckles for my entire setup so I'm pleased that they have been good so far. Thanks Giant Loop!

Hydration packs are an OK solution, but I'm not a fan of wearing packs unless I have to - especially in the heat. Carrying weight on your body is very fatiguing over time, and packs often prevent riding gear from properly ventilating. So often, I'll simply strap a hydration pack to my saddlebag.

My personal favorite hydration pack is the USWE: USWE - We keep winners hydrated It's very light and compact, and the X harness design is very stable without requiring a waist belt.

Another favorite for carrying water for dry camping is the MSR Dromedary:

It can be secured behind the rider with the "beaver tail" flap on the Saddlebags, or it can be packed inside the lower "leg" of the Saddlebag to position the weight lower on the bike.

I like that idea .
Will work on it .
FOr my purpose , cool trails , few hard pistes , a 4/5 liters will be enough .
WIll not make cooking except if really needed. C rations willfit in this case anyway.
98 % i will travel alone so I will like to talk to people and so /
gear will be lighter .

I took the GL coyote for testing. was running really nice . Unfortunately a little hole appeared at the bottom of the left saddle/ Sometihing inside i think maybe Beam of wheel; defuse tire .
Or outside a piece of rear foot support which i took off afterwards .
For the moment ductape is doiong the job , under the last sheet and over it .
an idea to upgrade the stuff for the next long ride in morocco full stuff. ?
