Question about re-entering Guatemala
We first entered Guatemala back in December and left the beginning of January. When leaving we were asked whether we would be returning by March 10th (the expiration of the 90 days). We said no and they told us we would be exited from the system and when we return we will get a new entry permit. It was mentioned that if you are temporarily exited and return after the 90 days that there will be a fine.

We are now driving back towards Guatemala from Panama and looking through our paperwork saw on the back of the import paper from Guatemala that it is stamped "salida temporal". We will be entering Guatemala after the expiration day and are now concerned if we will have a problem or fine at the border?

Does anybody know something about this??

Ciao Paolo,
if you cancelled your TVIP at your exit from Guatemala, you can reenter the country after 90 days without a problem.

If you did not cancel your TVIP you will have some explaining and talking to do at the border at the moment of reentry.
Show the aduana officer all your other paperwork like exit stamps from Guatemala, entry stamp in the neighboring country and you will be OK .
Just get to the border on time, because it might take longer as usual.

What if you want to re-enter Guatemala in less than 90 days? I am in Guatemala now and was going to ride to Honduras, stay there for a few weeks and then go back through Guatemala on my way back to the USA. Any ideas?

I won't need to show my TVIP cancellation upon leaving Guate to enter Honduras?

I will be in Guatemala for the full 90 days of my visa, so I'm assuming the TVIP will be expired when I try to re-enter, whether or not I cancel it, correct?

Once you leave the country and you cancel your TVIP or if your TVIP is expired, your vehicle is NOT allowed back in for 90 days.

You can get an extension in Guate City at Aduana before you leave the country. The length of the extension depends on your immigration status .
