Buying a second motorbike in Mexico and cross boorders South.
I would like to buy a second hand motorcycle in Mexico, have it in my name for border crossing and travel South.

1) What Mexican websites should I look at for used motorcycles?
2) Can a permanent Mexican resident buy a motorcycle for me and then transfer it in my name?
3) Can I have a registration paper in my name quickly?
4) Are there any agency in Mexico City that do this kind of service?

Any help or advice on this matter is welcomed.

Yes you can legally purchase a moto in Mexico with a temporal or permanent visa. Varies by state also. I have two motos that I plan to sell soon if you have interest. Or you can search Mercadolibre Mexico or Facebook marketplace. Most every thing else will be word of mouth. Buena suerte.

Went through dealer
I had everything done through a dealer in Mexico City. The factura (which is a bill of sale here but serves as a title) was put in my name and I had the bike registered under a friend as I do not have a residency visa. You need to register it to get license plates and this thing called a Tarjeta de Circulacion which accompanies your license plate (placa). This is what is in my friends name.

I just had the dealership do everything because I did not know how to navigate the system and it was worth the extra money to me to just have them do everything. The cost for me to get new plates on a new bike was 2500 pesos, but for just the transfer, they might not charge you so much.

If you are not super budget sensitive, then the best option might be to call around to the dealerships and see which is willing to help you do the transfer.

Shoot me a DM if you'd like and I can ask my friend who works at the dealership I got mine done at if they do that kind of stuff.

I'm planning to buy a MC too. I'm going to the Mexican consulate in Vancouver next week for a residence visa, but I will have to settle for the three years temporal visa. I want to avoid to begin to cash a retirement funds.

I thought I could do everything in my name with a temporal visa. That's not my main concern. I can have a friend to go around that, and ask a lawyer to draft a poder in my name.

That's not my bigest concern. My biggest concern is if I can find a police insurance that covers medicals in the case I get injured or seriously injure someone in an accident.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
