Currently I'm on an extended trip (about 2 years). I'm in southeastern Europe right now and it's bloody hot (+36°C). I'm wearing the Rev'it defender pro pants and even though they have some ventilation, they're still too hot and especially when I come of the bike and need to walk a bit to go to the store or something.

Today I rode around a bit in my outdoor pants through the city, which was sooo much more comfortable. This made me wondering if there is something like an outdoor jeans with motorcycle protection and abrasion resistance?

Are there people out there using these kind of pants for long travels?

So far I've found the Rokker Rokkertech, they have good protection but lack the pockets on the upper legs which are really nice to have.

I don't need waterproofing from the pants, I just put on a normal rain pants.

I bought a set of Hood jeans with armour built in and a abrasive resistant liner. The cut was not great so I had paid a fine lady £15 to put the liner and armour into a pair of nicely cut Wranglers. Best of both worlds and when it is very hot I just pour water over the jeans and as they dry out they cool me down.

I use Motoport Air Mesh Kevlar jacket and pants. I find them very comfortable even in hot climates. More expensive than most but custom made to fit you and I never regretted the price.

What kind of riding are you doing with these pants?

Tarmac. No off road whatsoever.

I used the Klim Lattitude top and bottom for many years this is from 2015 and was made of the 840D cordura which was very heavy in the trousers but I did not feel the sun through the fabric and the vents worked well.
I later purchased a newer version of the same trouser but it was lighter which was good but I could feel the sun heating up my thighs.

But after all this time in "Adventure mode" I got tried and bored of it all and had my old pair of BMW summer pants sent out to me and for the last year they have been great.
They are not waterproof but I am now way beyond all that and slip on lightweight overtrousers when needed and it works really well.

They are a heavy canvas no vents have two discreet leg pockets and side zipped ones. But the best part is that they are fully lined with a perforated satin. And has protection knees and hips.
They wash very easy no special treatment and the BMW logo is tiny on the waistband.

I can wear them all day and use them walking around for hours, came through the Sonora desert in Mexico five days at 45' C.

Not selling these in particular but as an example. Google a pic as I am not sure if they have a version now. Also check out work wear, very good too.

I have also got rid of my big BMW boots and now extremely happy with my TXC short waterproof boots, so comfortable on and off all day.

So just to say there are other types of clothing that will do the job, the Adventure is you not what you wear.

I used single layer but full lined kevlar jeans which coped in Death Valley and the heat of New Delhi. They also saved my legs when I came off!

I’m looking at replacing my old Klim Latitude trousers.
Like you my main priority is venting. I’ve whittled my choice down but suspect I will just go for the modern equivalent of the Latitudes.
They have been brilliant:
Very comfortable
Waterproof
Well vented
Long lasting - I’ve done at least 100K miles in them and still wear them but they’re just getting a bit tired and baggy.
Ridden in 30 degrees in Europe and through Nevada (Death Valley) no problem.

I’ve always found protective jeans very hot - perhaps the newer ones are better.

My wife has some mesh style trousers, which are great but for an upcoming long trip, where space is tight, I suspect she’ll just take her Klim trousers.

Hood or Draggin make kevlar lined jeans, with optional body armour. I wore these in Croatia in 2019, much better than heavy waterproof gear. Though of course it does generate one more thing to carry.
