Exactly what I am getting. Cold weather too; I am at an elevation of 4000ft, and on a cool night it goes below freezing.
I think it is initially simple to get at a small multi pin plug under the ignition barrel, but if that's not the prob, then big job to replace the unit.
I really don't think it is the EWS; I had that on an RT, and although it was intermittent, and the bike did start with a bit of on/off key, EWS came up on the panel.
Also, from my experience with BMW dealers, the computer they plug in is very clever - up to a point. I think, but may be wrong, that if the fault does not show up on the instrument panel, then it does not show up on the computer - or even a 911 diagnostic machine.
I will keep an eye on things.
Anyway, for this part of the trip I am still near some sort of garage.
