Buying a bike in South America October 2019

Hi,

My girlfriend and I need one motorbike for a 6-month trip around South America, starting in mid to late October 2019.

The bike would need to be appropriate for 2 people, and somewhere close to our budget of $3000. If it came fully kitted out for an overland trip that would definitely be a bonus. We would plan on selling it at the end of our trip.

We're pretty flexible regarding the location to buy it (we've not bought flight tickets yet) although it seems that Colombia and Chile are the best options regarding paperwork. I'd want it to be a fully legal purchase if possible.

If you have a bike that fits this rough description and will be looking to sell it around mid to late October, please get in touch.

Thanks a lot, Jasper

Hi Laurent,

Thanks a lot for the information - I'll get in touch with Christian Montero at the Casa Matte closer to my departure to see if there's anything available. It's encouraging to hear that you managed to get the paperwork sorted without much trouble.

Cheers and have a great ride! Jasper

Hi Sandcrides,

Thanks a lot for your post. Unfortunately I think the DRZ400 could be a little on the small side for the two of us. I'd definitely be interested to take a look at photos though if you're able to post/send any.

Thanks, Jasper

Hi Jasper, are you still looking for a bike? Me and my girlfriend are traveling on a KLR650. We are actually in Bolivia and planning to sell the bike in October, quite flexible with the location. The bike is on Washington plates and could be legally registered on your name. If interested send me a message on WhatsApp: +51955441839
Cheers, Johann.
