Buying a bike May 2019 - CHILE/PERU/BOLIWIA/BRASIL

Hi everyone,

me and my bf will be travelling around South America starting from May. We need to buy a bike (possibly with all the travel gear included), minimum 250cc, with plates allowing us to travel international.

Will consider all options, but would like to stick to the budget 3000usd/bike or 5000/usd if two bikes.

Please text through WA: +48 533174685 or Ig @flying2wheels

Thanks!

Carol

Have the perfect bike for you in Peru

Hi Carol!
Two friends and I are just finishing a roadtrip from Colombia to Peru, and one of them is selling his bike when we arrive to Cusco at the end of the month. It's an excellently maintained Yamaha Tenere xtz250z, and is perfect for overlanding travel for the following reasons:

1. It has Colombian license plates, which make for the easiest border crossings. It's also registered directly under my friend's name, which means we can transfer it directly to your name at the sale (something which can be very difficult to do with other country license plates).
2. 250 cc is powerful enough to go pretty much anywhere, but at the same time small enough that you can easily find replacement parts, and any mechanic knows how to fix it. If you get a larger bike and something breaks down, you might get really stuck.
3. Great for both off-road and tarmac, very comfortable, and has performed excellently throughout the whole trip.

We're initially asking $4000 USD, but are willing to come down.
There is also a second option: my other friend will continue travelling, and if we don't manage to sell the Tenere, he can keep that one and sell his own instead, which is a Yamaha XTZ 250. Not ideal for us, but also a possibility if you would prefer that one.
I'm whatsapping you as well.
Happy travels!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
