2008 KLR for sale in Santiago Chile, May 2019 **price drop**

2008 KLR650 for sale in Santiago, Chile, first week of May 2019.

My very reliable and trusty steed is up for sale. I started in LA and have been on the road for over a year and the bike has been excellent. The bike is USA (Los Angeles) registered and plated with up to date registration (pink slip in hand). The buyer does not have to be an American but must have access to a USA address to do the registration to. I will arrange for the legal help in Santiago for the TVIP transfer (Chile bike import permit) to the new owner’s name so all is 100% legal (shared cost, not much).

All running repairs have been done professionally including; chain (DID heavy duty), sprockets and tyres (new in Chile), clutch cable (new in Mexico). I had one electrical fault that was professionally repaired in Ecuador. Currently she has done about 42,000 miles and will have a few thousand more by the time I get back to Santiago.

The bike has not been crashed other than slow or no-speed tip overs and is in overall excellent condition, it has the normal amount of wear and scratches you would expect from a bike that has done 42,000 miles. I have religiously changed the oil and filter every 5000 thousand miles.

She will come with a bunch of extras including the Kawasaki toolkit, some spare inner tubes and a spare chain, 6 Ft heavy duty steel locking cable and lock, brake fluid, engine oil, chain lube, bag of spare bolts and nuts, full workshop manual (pdf) and a bunch of other things I will put together. This bike is totally ready for another circuit of the Americas. I hate to let her go but it’s time for me to head home…..

Negatives (no surprises) : Like any of the 2008+ KLR she burns some oil when you ride her hard on the freeway, I tend to sit on about 60mph and at or below 4000rpm and then she burns very little. However if you thrash her on the open road you will be adding some oil, not a big issue but something to keep an eye on, I've never let her get below the "low" mark. The plastic tool tube mount has a small crack on one side and so I don't trust it to keep my heavy tools in anymore, just light stuff.

My entire ride report can be seen here;
https://advrider.com/f/threads/my-bi...om-la.1254893/

Asking $4000 USD or nearest offer. Email me on arjan_nz (at hotmail) or PM me on here.

**price drop now asking $3500 or best offer***

Here’s a list of her current accessories and modifications:

Cogent rear shock and spring
Cogent progressive springs in the front
Front fork brace
Happy trial crash bars
Highway pegs
High power gel battery (zero maintenance)
Aluminium heavy duty bash plate
Pannier racks – reinforced

Is the Chile destination set in stone? Consider Argentina. Longer TIP.

actually the tip is the same length in Argentina and Chile however it is completely illegal to transfer a bike title in Argentina and if you try this you will end up with problems crossing every single border, in Chile it is completely legal and you will have complete ownership of the bike and be free to cross all borders.

Hi guys, a small update on this, I now have a legal expert in Santiago who will help with the title and ownership transfer to any foreign buyer, you do not need to be American or have access to an American address.

After this process the bike will be completely and legally in the new owner's name and you will have no problems crossing any border whatsoever, including returning to the USA.

Google overland title services. His names Alex Smith and he's great. Transferred two US bikes with him (one in Bolivia one in Chile.)

If I do the tags and title transfer in the US to another state and you write up the other legal sold paperwork there is no problem crossing the borders. I have done that on two other bikes. How long is the TIP in Chile? Argentina gives 8 months.
