USA: 2003 Suzuki DRZ400 S, bad engine, clear title, 5k mi

Selling a 2003 Suzuki DRZ 400 S motorcycle with only 5k miles and a bad engine. This would be a great project bike for someone mechanical. It would also be a good money making opportunity for someone who wants to disassemble the bike and sell the parts individually. Every so often a DRZ400 without a title comes up for sale at an inexpensive price. That would be a good way to get a good used engine and swap it.

As you can tell from the pictures this DRZ400 S is in excellent shape for its age. I was planning on using it for some long trips until the engine problem.

I must not have had the oil filter bolts torqued tight enough because the cover came off on the highway on me after a recent oil change. When I felt the power decrease on the highway, I pulled the clutch in right away and the rear tire did not seize. I reinstalled the engine cover and put some new oil in, but the engine will not start again. It sounds like it will start, but there must be some significant damage in the engine.

The pictures show the DRZ with a Seat Concepts high seat on it, but the seat that comes with the bike is the stock Suzuki seat. A set of Tusk bark buster handguards comes installed on the bike.

The bike is located in Des Moines, IA. I'm willing to deliver in a 150 mile radius of Des Moines, IA for $1.00 a mile. The bike must be paid for in full via wire transfer before delivery.

If you want to ship the bike that is fine, but you will need to handle the shipping arrangements. I can drop the bike off at a shippers in Des Moines for you. If you want to fly into Des Moines and rent a truck to drive back in, I can pick you up at the airport.

The balance needs to be paid after the auction in person or via w-trans.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Maybe I'm blind, but I'm not seeing: photos, price, an "auction."

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
