Let's start: Auto from SA to Aussie-land
For your information:
I am planning to take my car from South Africa to Australia, somewhere June 2002 (after overlanding from Amsterdam).
I have checked with the Australian Customs service in Brussels (+32 2286 0582) if there are any specific requirements to allow importation of the car in this case.
The only requirements are: Carnet de Passage (which you have anyway), the car should be CLEAN (and by that the probably mean CLEAN CLEAN) and the car should be in road worthy condition (which I assume has been proven in case you reach South Africa from Europe).
The last point could give some conditions if you have damaged your car or windscreens or alike.
QUESTION:
Who has experience doing this before; anything special to report? What would be the right place to ship from/to? Durban/Port Elizabeth to Perth???
Thanks, Jan.
