Need advise - Riding Malaysian registered bikes into Slovenia and Croatia
Need some advise...

I will be riding with some of my mates from Munich with rented bikes into Slovenia and Croatia. There are 5 bikes in total, 3 rented with all the necessary documents while 2 bikes are Malaysian registered bikes with Insurance. Not sure if this bikes would be allowed into Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegero.

Any advise how can I check if they 2 Malaysian regitered bikes would be allowed entry at the border?

Any advice would be much appreciated...

Hi Anthony, if the Malaysian bikes are already in the EU then why wouldn't they be allowed into Slovenia and Croatia ? Any European green card is good for every EU country, and may or may not Include Montenegro ( mine does) , In the worst case just buy Insurance at the border.

It's usually issued automatically, meaning that a policy you buy in any EU country is valid in the entire EU. You might need to ask for a printout of the green card countries that aren't in the EU, such as Serbia and Albania where you are probably covered too.

The recent "green Card" I got at the Russia/Finland border to cover my Chinese plated bike covered the following countries.

I paid 450 Euro to cover 60 days. this was for a Motorbike cars are cheaper to insure?

As for entering Bosnia/Herzegovina none EU from Croatia was not asked about insurance but at the border to Montenegro need to buy.

Could the price of the green card confirmed please..

Below goes a general information I got from a local authority..

Here is the price list given by TTOK., and as told,must be same everywhere, doesnt matter where the vehicle is produced or numberplated and most important subject is, it covers third person not you.....

(there may be a missing of 1-2 countries on the country list as int.agreement on this subject is not signed by all members yet..In this case you will buy a local insurance at the gate of the country where it is not valid)

Phew, looks like I struck lucky when I entered Finland from Russia on my Aussie registered bike.

I asked where I could purchase a green card but no one at the border was interested in letting me know where to buy it, so I didn't bother.

I spent the next 1 and a half months travelling south to Italy and the only place I was asked for a green card was at the Hungary - Croatia border. They ended up selling me Croatia-only insurance for around 25 euro for 2 weeks.

I'm very pleased to hear I saved myself 4 hundred and 25 euros.

After riding through Vietnam and China - where you put your life at serious risk every minute you are on the road - the risk of having an accident in Europe that causes me to end up out of pocket, because I don't have insurance, is minimal.

It's all a matter of perspective. I will never understand why people think the risks associated with not having sufficient insurance outweigh the risk of instant death, or serious injury, by riding in countries with high accident rates.
