London to India on 4X4

Hi,
I am new to this forum and I'm in the early stages of planning an overland trip from London to Kolkata.
I hope to travel through Europe, Turkey, Georgia, Russia, Central Asian Stans, China, and Nepal before entering India.
Can I get your suggestion re which vehicle would be ideal?
I have Toyota Landcruiser in mind.
Many thanks

Welcome to HU!
For a trip like that, the Toy will work well, assuming you have the appropriate budget. Lots of other vehicles will work well too. Are you planning on leaving it in India? Or driving it back? Read up on Carnets - do a search here, and you'll find lots of very important info.
Be sure to do lots of browsing around here there is a load of information in many categories.

Welcome!

Enjoy the stage of planning, take your time for find the vehicle/gear who is a perfect fit!

Locking back the most important stuff is always the trip itself, not what you did use for it. So dont overrate vehicle, brand, gear.

Many thanks for your advice. I shall do more browsing and certainly look up Carnets. I am hoping to ship the vehicle from India back to the U.K.

Remember to bear in mind the cost of a Carnet including India can be 200% of your vehicles value. A factor many overlook.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
