Tenere smoky exhaust, loose piston, cam chain rattle...
About a month ago I had to replace the crank and piston rod after the bearings got destroyed after it been driven cold at full revs.
Ever since, there's been problem after problem. Latest was a cardboard cylinder gasket burnt through (surprise surprise) causing it to burn and leak huge amounts of oil. I fixed this yesterday but noticed that the piston was a bit loose inside the cylinder. Also, once the engine has heated up a bit and the engine is idling it will speed up a bit and exhaust will smoke. Coming back from the mechanics last night I had to keep it in gear in traffic to prevent it from doing this. Is this the piston rings need changing?
The cam timing chain doesn't seem the best either, there has been a slight rattling sound from it and there is also slight give from the joints when you pull in oppposite directions. Need replacing?
My bigger concern is that all these seemed 100% until recently so I'm wondering if it was been driven cold at high revs caused this? Or replacing the crank and rod? Or something else and something else will go wrong after a few 100 kms?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. Before I get flamed it wasn't me doing the dodgy driving or dodgy repairs!
