No idea about the XT 
but my beemer when ridden slowly in hot climes and loaded does get rather hot despite its water cooling.
So I've plumbed in a switchable oil cooler- It can run 'standard' or re-routed via cooler
Maybe an overkill but designed with redundancy in mind- if it gets damaged/trashed , I can by pass it in 1 turns of a 2 taps
