James Cargo - anyone used them to ship bikes ?

As title, it looks like I will be using James Cargo James Cargo Services IATA, AATA, IPATA and DEFRA approved Cargo Agent and have not found any sign of anyone here having used them yet.

I emailed a general enquiry to them about ten days ago but have not had a reply.

Did you try the online form ? That seems to go to Mark Burgess who does the bike quotes.

I'll mention lack of response when I speak to them Monday as they are keen to pick up more bike work (it would seem).

Talk to Roddy Warriner at James, I've had several conversations with him. He'd like us to be an affiliate with them, where we get a small commission if someone says they heard about them on HU. I've been so busy with site upgrades I haven't had a chance to get back to him on it.

So I'd be pleased if you said HU when you talk to him, and let me know how it all goes - we want to be sure if we recommend them that they are actually good!

Roddy seems very good, he's definitely very interested in shipping bikes, and has promised excellent service.

Let's see...

Ok, will be talking to them again next week, all their expertise seems to be in London, but they are guiding the Manchester base through the process. So far they have been extremely helpful.

I'll mention Roddy when I next speak to them.

81 days to go .... and still so much to do ! :-)

Just an update on James Cargo. When you pin them down they are good, but getting them to reply to emails can be difficult.

The best approach so far has been to actually go in the office and talk to them :-)

We seem to be all set to get the bikes crated on June 8th

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
