Shipping from Dubai to Germany

Hey, we want to ship oir bikes (2 Honda Transalp) from Dubai to Germany or any other port close to Germany (Rotterdam, ...) in February. We got one quote so far for 840€. Does anyone have any recommendations for any other company? Does anyone know what is a good price for this itinerary?

Stefan (right now in beautiful Iran :-))

If you use the ferry from Bandar Abbas to Sharjah, avoid the wendsday ferry, you may be stuck in Sharja until Saturday, because the customs doesn`t work on Thursday and Friday ( it was so on my trip)

Regards
Wolfgang

Dubai - Germany

Wolfgang I'm not sure when you traveled but UAE weekends have been Friday / Saturday now for many years. Customs will definitely be working Thursday - though like the rest of the world, you may find they leave a little early for the weekend, so get there early if you can, on a Thursday. Depends on the ferry I suppose.

I am using Deugro to ship my overland truck from Germany to Dubai - should be here in a couple of weeks. They specialise in vehicle transport, and have their own offices in both Germany and Dubai. Maybe they only deal with RoRo shipments, I'm not sure, please check. But they've been very helpful, competitively priced and knowledgeable. Might as well ask them for a quote for bikes by airfreight, nothing to lose.

Contact Rahul Mathew: Rahul.mathew@deugro.com, Mobile +971 55 587 0480, Office +971 4 392 0205 (Extension 209). Tell him I (Tim Ansell) referred you, as he's the guy dealing with my shipment.

Hi Tim,
may be it was a bank holiday , but I leave the ferry at the 15.10.15 round 10 am and was at the custom a few minutes later. The custom work for the persons only, but not for my bike. Ok, I was the only one with a vehicle. The custom building outside of the gate was closed. So I had to wait until Saturday 17.10. to do the customs for my bike.

Hi Wolfgang, yes sorry, after posting I re-read your message and saw it was November last year. Commemoration Day followed by National Day tend to cause a few disruptions but that's over the last few days of November. I'm not quite sure what was happening in the middle of November last year? But then, over here we sometimes get holidays announced at sunset the evening before, so nothing surprises me anymore :-)
