International travel with bike registered/owned by someone else (EU, Asia)
Hello there!
As it seems impossible to buy and register a motorbike in Germany/EU in your name without living there I am considering an alternative approach to realizing my dream of riding the TET + going as far east as time/money/war allows it.
I have family living in Germany who could register and insure the motorbike, however I am concerned about border crossings with insurance/ownership registered in someone else's name.
Does anyone have experience with this? My guess is that it might be doable within the EU but prove difficult the further away from it I get.
As an extra question, I don't plan to get a Carnet, but I am still curious, would this be impossible or does the Carnet not care about the owner, only the bike itself?
Any advice regarding the above or other suggestions on how to travel in Europe/Asia without residency are much appreciated!
