Chinese travel. Kulma pass, Tajikistan to Pakistan

Hi there,

A friend and I are looking to travel from the United Kingdom to Pakistan then India. We intend to travel through the stans to tajikistan into China then Pakistan.

Having looked at the Caravanistan website there seems to be a 140km route from Kulma pass to Pakistan that has successfully been travelled recently by a number of people.

From my understanding this route would mean we need Chinese escorts.

I have seen other recent threads of people looking for companions to travel similar routes, unfortunately noone traveling when we are. I have asked a few for name of excort companies but unfortunetly have not been successful.

I have taken a look online but my wording when googling doesn't seem to be getting decent results, can anyone recommemd anywhere to get quotes etc?

Once we have some quotes does anyone think that should be enough proof to the Chinese embassy to prove that we only want to stay for a day or two? We are keen to apply for the visa asap.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

Regarding chinese companies, you can find something here
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...safety-87836-3

Regarding Qolma pass, I never heard of any foreigner being able to cross with his own vehicle.
Even people on foot started crossing only in the last few years.
I'm not sure chinese customs down there are able to produce the right documents, but you should probably just ask about this to the agency.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
