Xing Iran, Late May 2015 - Armenia -> Turkmenistan
I see that there are some new rules re CDN, US, and UK
travelers requiring a guide to cross Iran...
Still looking into this, but anyone else in the same boat
that might consider cost-sharing ?
Originally I had a 2 week route across the north of Iran
planned, but that looks pretty costly now...
Let me know !
Cheers

Crossing Iran
Yes, I am looking at going from UK to Samarkand and was also thinking of July this year. One route would be across the north of Iran. I have an Irish passport so discussing with the Iranian Embassy in Dublin whether I need a guide or not. No decision yet.
The other big factor would be the need for a Carnet de Passage. For my £3000 bike it would cost me about £1,000. I'd like to visit Iran but it would be much cheaper to go via Russia.
Where would you start your journey, I live in Hampshire in the south of England.

Hi Jim:
Thanks for the reply
I am back and forth with a couple of people on the
costs involved.
I have some great route info, courtesy of some people
on here, and had planned for 12 days across the north
Nordooz -> Turkmenistan. Was trying to stay off the main
highways and take smaller roads across the mountains.
What bike are you on ?
I have a CDP as I am going through India and other
countries which require them.
Maybe PM me your e-mail and we can keep in touch. If
you do need a guide then perhaps we can work together ?
Cheers !

I have some quotes back now, some good route info...
Still looking for any other Canadians, Americans, or Brits
(those that need guides) to share costs for 9-12 day
Iran crossing...
Aiming for late May -> early June

Iran
Hi,
very new here on HUBB but I too am looking at crossing Iran this year as part of my trip to Mongolia.
I am in the process of looking at the visa requirements and hope to have an answer in the next couple of months. My intended departure from Switzerland is around 18th July. Not sure if that works for you.
Regards!
Gio
