Baltic Circular 2017

My usual bike friend has given up motorcycling so I am seeking a new companion for a summer 2017 Baltic circular from the UK to Nordkapp Norway. Initial ideas include ferry to Holland then through Denmark over the Oresund Bridge to Sweden up through Norway with a bit of fjord ferry hopping and returning via Finland and Helsinki ferry to Estonia and back through Latvia Lithuania Poland Germany Belgium France. About 12,000 k or so depending on the route so maybe 4 weeks max but flexible on the route if you have less time than that. I am an affable Irishman in my early 60's fit, active and a friendly easy going adaptable sort. Biked in 15 countries over 40 years. Got into and out of a few fixes in that time so I think I am a reasonably experienced traveller. My daily riding style is fairly relaxed, probably 250/275 miles a day, avoiding motorways and tolls preferring backroads, stopping for coffee and a photograph when the view dictates. Don't mind a few miles of gravel but nothing too off road. Part camping, part small hotel/guest house as the weather presents itself. My style is to be on the road by 0930 and at my destination by 1700 with time to relax, explore the locality, dine out on unfamiliar menus, have a couple of drinks and meet local people. I live in the High Peak Derbyshire and own a BMW 1200GSA which I will probably take on this trip, a KTM 990 ADV which I might take on this trip and my best friend a Norton 850 Commando MK3 which I definitely won't be taking on this trip. Happy to meet up and discuss within a reasonable distance of Buxton Derbyshire once there is someone seriously interested in committing to this adventure.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
