Mexico, Spring/Summer 2015

Hey Motoqueros,

I am wanting to plan a trip south from Arizona to Argemtina.
I do not have an exact date of departure, timeframe or route, at this point I am extremely flexible.
Was wondering if there were any others also planning this epic journey?
I would love to chat and hear about your preparations, itinerary, and any advice you may have.

Thank you

Cynthia

I'll be heading through Mexico in a couple of weeks and then be settled in western Guatemala until June. Doing a trip to Honduras to visit friends for a few weeks and then heading back north. Maybe we can meet up if you're traveling through Guatemala while I'm there.

Hey Cynthia,

I'm heading back to San Diego in late October and then the (somewhat loose at this stage) plan is fly the bike to Valparaiso. I have around three months for this leg of the trip. From there I'll head to TDF and Ushuaia and then up to BA to hopefully catch the start of the DAKAR 2016.

I'd like to try and see a stage of the DAKAR so my route from BA depends on the route for the race.

At this stage I plan to leave the bike in northern Peru/Ecuador/Columbia and return in 2017 to finish off riding back to San Diego.

How long are planning to spend on the road?

Matt

Timeframe for journey

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the reply. I am wanting to spend 9 months for the trip south, then considering another 3 months to travel north up the eastern coast.
I would love to stay in contact and maybe we could meet up.
I am still in the planning stages at this point.

Thanks again and I will look forward to chatting with tou again.

Would love to meet up

Talus,

Thank you for your reply.
I wish I were more prepared, I would have loved to have joined you for the first leg to Guatemala.

What better excuse to travel than to visit dear friends, good for you.

I would love it if we could stay in touch, and possibly meet up in Guatemala or Honduras. It's a long trip...it would be nice to meet up with a fellow traveler for a drink and some laughs.

Please keep me in your thoughts and I will definitely look you up when I am in the area. Have a safe and wonderful journey.

Cynthia

Sounds good. I'll be living in Quetzaltenango Guate from February to early June, so there's a chance you'll be coming through. I'm very close to Lago Atitlan and Xela (Quetzaltenango) is a lovely city to visit. I lived in Honduras, so I can definitely offer some insight on that country. A lot of people skip it, but it's a beautiful place with fantastic riding.

Keep in touch.

My son and i will hopefully be leaving in June and going as far south as possible in about 10 weeks. We'll be riding Victory Cruisers so no heavy off road action. Entering Mexico at Matamoros, CA than hopefully ferry to Colombia.

I am hoping to be entering Mexico on my way south through as much of SA as possible hoping to find someone or a group to ride with. I will be riding a F800GS and my only criteria is I will have to be out of the USA by August as my visa will expire.
I am starting in Florida on the 9 Feb 2015 with my partner who will flying home before I head off to South America.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
