Arrow Germany to South-Africa west-route

We're four 19 year old guys planning to drive from Germany to South-Africa January 2018.
We want to follow the west coast all the way down. We've come far with our planning and have already bought a Hyundai Galloper 1999. We plan on taking the trip in a total time of 2-3 months.

If anyone else is traveling the same route about the same time we would love to hear from you. Very much easier if you can exchange tips and plan a bit together. Also taking the more challenging roads like west-sahara and Mauritania together.

Also, if you've already done the trip we would love to hear about some tips for the route.

The roads through WS & Mauritania will be the least of your worries, they're straightforward and in good shape ...

You'll find further south it starts getting tricky, when it's good to have others around, although a lot of people will be happy to help you!

It'll be fun!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
