Accra (Ghana) to London (UK)

Hello all,

I’m planning to ride from Accra (Ghana) to London (UK) primarily along the coast, leaving sometime in Feb 2017 and am wondering if anyone is interested in doing this with me?

I’m aiming to use a mix of dirt and paved roads to keep it interesting. Road selection will be based on the best way to get to interesting/unusual/awesome destinations along the way. I’m not in a rush (at the latest, I can put off being back in the UK until the start of June) so would like to explore as much of West Africa as possible.

It’s likely that I will complete the trip on a bike with an engine far smaller than is optimal (125cc). As this is what I currently own and buying a new bike in Ghana would be too expensive and second hand bikes are extremely unreliable. However, given I’m not in a rush I don’t see this as a massive problem. Moreover, my current bike can be easily fixed on the road.

For accommodation I’m planning a mix of free/wild camping, paid camping sites and the odd hotel/hostel/guesthouse. I don’t plan to take any cooking equipment to save on space.

PM me for more details.

Likely. I'm coming down from the UK. I'm currently in Dakar and heading for Ghana for hopefuly December, then start heading back in January after Benin & Togo. I may go through Burkina & Mali, but i think we'll be crossing paths

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
