Tour around Spain and Portugal Sept 2020 from FR

Hello everybody!

Stefano writing, italian biker transplanted in Lyon.
I'm brand new of this forum and I'm looking for companions for the roadtrip I'm planning for this summer (first 2/3 weeks of september)

My idea:
- only asphalted roads (my moto is BMW F 800 GT, so she doesn't like going off road );
- tents and camping stuff
- turistic rhythm, time to appreciate the beauty of the nature and the villages crossed. Planning an average of 300 km each day

I attach also a rough planning of the trip, if someone is interested we can decide the stops together.

Good road to everyone!!!

Hi.
Looks like your hugging the coast from Barcelona to Valencia. It’s a fairly flat coastline along there, may I suggest you travel inland a little there are some lovely mountains to ride through and your never that far from the sea. Can I also recommend the Cuenca Mountains - although it will be cold up there at night at the end of September.
Hopefully we will be going down through france and as far as Cuenca at the beginning of September - fingers crossed.

Road in Portugal

For Portugal, I recommend RN2:

Estrada Nacional 2
The National Road 2 (EN2/N2) is nicknamed the Route 66 of Portugal. It’s a very exciting and scenic journey in the heart of the country, taking you from Chaves in the North to Faro in the South.

The road is totally asphalted. Completed in 1950’s, it’s the longest continuous road in the country crossing 4 mountain ranges, 11 rivers and 29 municipalities. The journey offers an exhilarating driving experience, with superb views. An incredible journey, an unforgettable experience. The journey is a wonderful way to slowly travel through the country and experience Portugal's diverse culture and landscapes through stunning landscapes, unique villages, irresistible river beaches, unforgettable heritage and unique gastronomy.
The road encompasses miles of stunning views. It has been named one of the “best places to go in 2019” by American travel guide publisher Frommer’s. The experience of using this road is very impressive. The road is 738km long. It starts at the city of Chaves, in the northern part of the country, close to the border with Spain deep in the rough landscape of Trás os Montes. It runs south through the centre of Portugal, and ends in the city of Faro, just short of the Atlantic Ocean where the visitor is faced by the azure sea of the Algarve.

Wow, thank you for the suggestion, I've seen some amazing photos! I will surely do it!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
