Nepal Tibet border closure?

Is anyone aware of this closure? We are due to travel in mid-May and we have been advised not to. Apparently this is related to the new road being built so the Chinese authorities have decided to close the border for 6 months or so until the project is completed. Can anyone confirm one way or another. Many thanks

I travelled the Kodari road on 2 wheels in September 2015 and it was blocked by huge-massive-beyond-belief landslide following earthquakes & monsoon season. It was clear from locals more blockages were further ahead too, we had to turn back. All this material was being loaded by one digger onto fleets of trucks going down. It was clearly going to take a long time and is still closed at present.

To keep up to date try here> Tibet Nepal border to remain closed

I don't fancy your chances going that way in May. Unless locals have forged a narrow path through wide enough for 2 wheels but it's likely to be a bit of a drop off the edge on loose stuff

I saw on a website last night that a local newspaper, possibly the Tibet Times has reported that the border will reopen in June.
If anyone is thinking of travelling through there this summer we would be interested in sharing a guide through China and Tibet.
We hope to leave UK in June and go into China from Kyrghistan and out through Nepal.

Sir,
Have you crossed China to Nepal and the border is open or not. I am planing to Go to London from India in April 2017 and at present the Nepal Kodari border is not open. Let me know the current situation and help to plan.

Is it even possible to enter Tibet from Nepal?
I've read that entering Tibet is only possible from China. First you need to apply for a visa to China and then you apply for a visit permit. I'm planning my trip to Tibet next year and I'd like to make sure how it works.
