Will someone buy me some Aerostich gear?

I will pay someone in the States (preferably someone I'm familiar with on the board) to buy some Aerostich kit for me. You should be able to get it without sales tax for shipping abroad.

As I would transfer the money to you solely for doing me a favour, the goods would be sent as a gift (with receipts and so on travelling seperately) allowing me to evade import duty.

So if anyone wants to do me a favour it would be gratefully appreciated here in the (increasingly wet and cold) UK.

I would be looking for a Darien Light jacket / pants in XXL.

Why can’t you buy from them direct by mail? They sent me their catalog all the way to Egypt with international sales info. I haven’t ordered anything yet though.

Hey Lewis, I would be careful with this one as you may end up paying VAT & duty anyway. HM Customs do inspect and open parcels.

Have a look at this page, about halfway down is some advice on getting stuff posted to you:

http://www.sloanefox.freeserve.co.uk/importukduty.htm

A better option is to get someone to bring it over in their suitcase. Much more difficult to arrange but you won't end up paying VAT/duty. I recently visited Australia and brought back several high value/low weight items really cheap compared to the UK.

As a sweetener for the person leaving, they can claim back domestic sales tax when they leave the country.

By the way, if you do manage to find someone could you ask them to pick up a pair of Keihin 31mm CRs for me? Ta.

OK, 2 things:

* amiller, could you email me a pic of the trousers? What condition etc, and how much?

* I now have a contact, so if anyone else wants relatively cheap Aerostich gear, let me know by email. It's probably best that stuff gets shipped to me and then I distribute it within the UK.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
