Mali Visa at the border ?
Hi ...
Some other travellers and we are currently "stuck" in The Gambia. The plan was to travel to Togo along the coast, but it seems the border to Ivory Coast (coming from Guinea or Sierra Leone) is still closed.
One option would be going through Mali / Burkina Faso, but none of us has the visa for Mali, as it was not planned. It´s not available in The Gambia either, as the owner of Sukuta Camping said. I heard, that you could get a "short-term" visa at the Senegal / Mali border and then go to Bamako to get it extended.
Can someone confirm this ? If this visa at the border is available, would it also be available at the Guinea / Mali border? Some of us plan to continue through Guinea, and if the Ivory Coast border is still closed, head to Bamako ..
Thx for any input !

Just updated another thread, not sure about Malian border visa though!
Update:
As of a few hours ago a friend in Bamako went to the Ivorian embassy on my behalf to help a group of people aiming to get their visas there.
It's not looking possible.
So currently the situation is:
Liberia & Guinea to Cote d'Ivoire - BORDER CLOSED
Liberia & Mali - VISAS for CI not possible
May have more news on Monday about this, hoping to change their minds in Bamako with some influence!

Mali visas on the border ended in April this year. Best option would be to go to Guinea and get one at the embassy in Conakry - otherwise backtrack to Dakar to get one there.
You might have luck on the border if there is a sympathetic official, but the official line is that you need them in advance.
