How do I ship something to myself?

I will be on the Stahlratte nov 27 to Cartegena then moving on in South America. I need to be able to recieva a package somewhere along the way. Any ideas of how to be able to pick up a package in South America? Anywhere?

Wery simple.....
For those without an address in Lima, mail can be send to general delivery. To pick up your mail you need your passport. As letters are sometimes sorted and filed in a strange way make sure you have them check thoroughly for your mail. Normally letters are kept 3 month before being send back, registered mail sometimes only a week or two. Although this service seems to work quite well, it isn't 100% reliable. Make sure the letter is addressed as below:

Name/s + LASTNAME/S (as stated in your passport, last name in capital letters)
Poste Restante
Correos Central
Jr. Conde de Superunda
Lima 1
Peru

POST RESTANTE

In some cultures the SURNAME (or family name) comes first. By underlining and capitalising your attempting to make it clear which name is the most important.

In America (USA) they don't use the term 'Poste Restante' they use the term 'general delivery'.

Do not address it to a major city. These usually have many post offices and you may have have to go to them all to find your parcel/letter. Instead post it to a smaller place .. a suburb or small village where there is a single post office. Saves a lot of parking, traffic and stress.

I once shipped some carburetor parts to someone in care of a hotel in SE Asia. She made the hotel contact and the reservation and I mailed it to the hotel. The package was waiting when she got there.

Depending on what you're shipping, I don't see why you couldn't make an arrangement to ship something to yourself at a future hotel stay.

They probably want a booking. So you'd need to know when you'll be there.

depending on the countries you want to ship from and to the answer will be different.

if you ship from the US to say, Peru, I highly recommend Peru Courier |. i shipped parts to some mates from miami, and everything went perfect and fast, not to mention cheap. they offer shipping to a specific address or to their office where it can be held for you, for a reasonable time.
i've used other couriers to other countries, mostly without issues.

bottom line is, use a courier from the US and avoid the big 3.

What about shipping to Chile?

I have some hardware (stiffer spring and bolts I need to ship to myself from the US to somewhere in Chile)

Would you use DHL?!
