Lima - worth a visit
I rode through Lima in 2013, entered from the south, left through the north and into the bleak PanAm stretch that lies above. Fortunately my trip was before the restrictions were applied.
Even with highway restrictions, Lima is well worth the effort to visit. There are a several art museums of note (MALI - Museo de Arte de Lima, MAC - Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Lima), amazing churches including the Monastery of San Francisco - catacombs!, the Huaca Pucllana pyramid and don't miss the national level archeology museum Larco Museum.
In 2014, 2016 and 2018 I returned to Lima on my way to short rides in the Andes, and always set aside time to enjoy the city. The food scene is world class and there are many more attractions that I haven't had time to visit...
Once in the city, park your bike and take the Metropolitano bus system. There are several routes through Lima with dedicated bus only lanes. The highways may be gridlocked, but the buses fly along on the Metropolitano.
