Any recommendations for Spanish lessons in Buenos Aires or Montevideo?

Hello Everyone,

Can anyone recommend a good teacher/school where my hubby and I can learn some basic Spanish?

We're going to be shipping our bikes from London to Buenos Aires and thought it would be nice to spend a week or so learning Spanish there or in Montevideo.

There seems to be many schools, some of which seem quite expensive to me but that might just be the way it is.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Spanish in Argentina and especially in buenos aires is so different from any where else in Latin America. I would recommend Spanish lessons anyplace BUT Argentina!

Hi, thanks for responding.
We are aware of this but we still need to learn some basics. We are starting in Argentina and it will be a long while before we reach places where spoken Spanish is better/easier/has softer accent etc.
It is not an ideal place, we know but... Needs must

Now, that is controversial opinion! but hey, you might have impeccable credentials (which I'd like to hear about,) to give such an offensive opinion.

Castillian is spoken propely by educated people in Buenos Aires, and a language teacher is presumably educated.
Uruguayos speak castillian that is hardly distinguishable from Argentine.
Using BA spanish I have travelled to practically every Spanish speaking country and had no problem communicating.

I don't have any credentials at all! My admittedly poor Spanish worked from Mexico south until we got to Argentina, where suddenly I couldn't understand anything.

How are you enjoying Brazil? We don't even have two Portuguese words between us so would definitely struggle.
Would be great to meet up in BA but we won't be there till late October. How long will you stay in BA for?
