garmin map for brazil

hi

anyone know of a good reliable map for my gamin that does bring me from a to b.prepared to pay for it,no worries.

specially typing in an adress and getting there.
all the osm and trucksource don't work that easy,always struggling to find the goal on the map,specially in cities is sometimes a pain in the a...

try maps.me on the phone.

for Garmin i also just know the ism maps which are working well for long distances but not in a city to get to a special adress.

Interesting, I didn’t have any problem with OSM data on my garmin 2 years ago in Brazil or anywhere in South America. Sure, sometimes it doesn’t find an address but you will have that problem with any map database. I’d say OSM is about 95% reliable, that’s pretty hard to beat! And by the way I used it in cities and recall even having to show the way to my Brazilian buddies in Rio!

The problem 'they' all have is that they do not have detailed addresses, they might know the road name but no numbers along it. Without that detail 'they' cannot direct you to an address.

All you can do is go to the road, look for a number and navigate yourself from there. A general road map won't have numbers either.
Until some address numbers are added then this situation will continue. Will you add address numbers to OSM so others who come after you can do better?

Just use the GPS coordinates from Google or Maps.me for example and they will direct you very close to your address.

thank you all very much for the positive input.
will give tracksource another try and see how it goes.
yes maps.me and google are very good indeed,but unfortunately not working on garmin and in the heat of brazil the cellphone likes to give up.
in japan the nav was working very fine in the tankbag,whereas the cell wouldn't last for 30 min.

Buy the Garmin full map of Brazil if you want to. It is your money.

Or you can just do this:

1) put the OSM map of Brazil on your Garmin device.
2) open your phone
3) use maps.me offline to find the GPS coordinates of where you want to go.
4) enter the GPS coordinates on your Garmin device.
5) close your phone (the heat of Brazil will have no impact here)
6) start riding...

i don't know what i always made wrong before.
but with:
Versão 19.01 dos mapas do Projeto TrackSource disponível9 - Portal GPS
i finally managed.
works now mucht better than before
obregado e sorte a tudos
@patontrip i tried to do it like this in japan,but maps.me and my garmin map wouldn't coordinate somehow.
the maps.me coordinates would not show the same place on my garmin map.
will try now in brazil with my new tracksource map.

Yes Tracksource is a bit confusing...has many different versions. For Windows for Mac with and without Mapsource direct to GPS etc.
Glad you managed, the maps are good also off the beaten track ( most at least)

Here are some details that will help those that don't know what OSM means.

OSM = Open Street Map

OSM is an open source project where thousands of people around the world are constantly adding roads and details to a huge GPS database. The maps sets are free and very good.

1. Go to this URL: Free worldwide Garmin maps from OpenStreetMap
2. Select the country and click download
3. On the next screen, click "osm_generic_gmapsupp.zip"
4. Clicking on the link will download a compressed file containing a single image that can be placed directly onto the SD-card of the GPS. The *img file must be copied to a directory labeled GARMIN on the SD Card. Unzip first!
5. Activate the maps set by selecting the new item on your Garmin GPS in the Maps info area.

(Hopefully I recorded the steps and details correctly.)

I've been using OMS maps for years. They are great and get better every day.
