buying street tires mexico pacific coast?

Hi can anyone tell me if I will have trouble buying rear tires for a !200 bandit and a 600 bandit (sizes 17/180/55, and 17/160/60 preferably bridgestone 021 or dunlop sportmax) on the Pacific coast of Mexico around Puerto Vallarta? We are currently in Phoenix, Arizona with about 1200 -1500 miles left on our rear tires and dont know if we should buy tires now?.
If anyone can recommend a dealer that would be great.
Cheers
Adam

Buy them in the States. If you can find tires here they will be about 70% more than in the States.
Big motorcycles are a luxury here which few can afford and we have to pay for it. A set of tires for my V-Strom cost me 270 dlls in the states and are about 500dlls here in Mex. If you think you may need other useable parts like air filters, spark plugs, oil filters, brake pads, chain and sprokets get them before you come. Most of the items are small and light with the exception of the chain and sprokets which if you need to you could replace before coming.
Shipping stuff here is relatively easy but time consuming and expensive. The Bandits were not imported into Mexico so some parts will be impossible to find.
Good luck

Thanks for the info, I'd rather sacrifice a some miles on our current tires to save that kind of money, and I may pick up some other items to be on the safe side.
All the best

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
