Kuala Lumpur- accommodating and Shopping

Hope you find this info helpful i know i could have used it.

Places to stay:
-The travel Hub hostel.
Just on the edge of Chinatown has a manned parking lot directly opposite. some rooms overlook where the bikes are parked. Not sure if manned all night. guard/boom gate operator is next to where the bikes are parked. hostel dorm 22 ringet. parking 1 ringet over night. Hostel staff are helpful and good with directions. close to public transport.

-Red palm
Not as nice and a bit more expense then the hub but they let me park my bike in a gated courtyard. More central location. 30 ringet a night dorm. only staying here 2 nights so not much other info.

Shopping places-
Sunny cycle-
37, Jalan Pahang (opposite McDonald/Shell), Setapak
53000 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Located just up from the end of the Monorail (titiwangsa station). Have full range of safety gear. seem to specialize in bigger bikes. Pretty sure there a BMW dealer (or just work on lot). have large work shop.

Kok Motor-
Sell mostly scooters have a couple of bigger bikes. lots of used scooters. workshop as well. came across them on several other forums and travel blogs. Small selection of gear. Got my Fz150i here.
Address : 500-0-7,8,9,10&11, Wisma Indah Jalan Tun Razak,
Postal Code : 50400
City : Kuala Lumpur
State : Wilayah Persekutuan
Country : Malaysia

Theirs a small bike gear shop on the bottom floor of Campbell Complex shopping center.

Travel gear.
The Travel Store. in KLCC shopping mall mostly sell bages and stuff but have a few dry bags called 'SPLASH PROTECTOR'. which is the worst name ever and probably tells how water proof they really are. But was open.

Other stores i went to but where closed (mid day on a Saturday WTF?) they looked like they had a wider range of camping gear.
Evergreen adventure in Campbell Complex shopping center they have a few stores around. Also a small bike gear shop on the bottom floor.
Outdoor center. A bit of a walk from Ampang Park station (more of a walk since it was closed).

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
