Malaysia, KL, Port Klang: RoRo customs procedure

Hi guys,

How are things?

We've just RoRo-shipped our car from Japan to Port Klang, Malaysia, and if anyone is interested these are our steps for getting it through customs:

https://toyotoro.com/shipping-roro-t...g-kl-malaysia/

I'm sure there are easier, cheaper and quicker ways but at least it worked for us to get it done within 1 day.

Cheers
Henning

Newby here.. Thanks for the info! This seems like a ton of work, but I'm sure it was worth it to have your own wheels over there.

Question: What were the import fees on your truck to enter Malaysia? Did you take it up into Thailand and into other countries after your visit to KL? Was that difficult and were there import fees entering those countries? I am looking at getting a Carnet, but there is none for Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam etc.. Just wondering how much expense and hassle it is to get my bike into those countries?

If you have any websites that you know of that I can check out to cover information like that, I would be thrilled to learn of them.

Thanks for your time, I appreciate it.

Nooneknowsnem, you're on the BEST site for all that information! There's a page that's just on carnets, and for the rest of it, someone here will know. Have a good browse / search, check out the drop down menus at the top for a "tutorial" on what's here, and where it is. There's a LOT!
Then ask your questions in the right forum and you'll get answers.

enjoy!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
