Northern Germany and Denmark

Hello

Can anyone advise if Denmark is recommended as a destination for a motorcycle trip. We would be travelling from Ijmuiden ferry terminal ad heading up from there. We have 6 days to tour around before heading back. We are just looking for a change from doing Germany Black Forest, Belgium etc Andy are limited to one week away so Denmark has came to our attention and we were just hoping if someone can offer advice, including how expensive things are ( specifically fuel, food and if I’m honest)

Any advice regarding the above would be appreciated.

Hi. I live in DK and here is very different from Black Forrest. Our roads are mostly open and 99.9 % are paved.

Camping in tent are from 20-40 Euro for one night.

B&B and small Hotels can be found from 60-100 Euro for 2 persons per night.

Airbnb : many private rooms from 30-60 Euro.

Fuel is almost the same as Germany 1.5 Euro/Liter.

Food is about 25-50% more than Germany.

I recommend Jylland and Fyn. Sjælland where Copenhagen is are more busy.

We've been to and through eastern Denmark quite a few times in recent years ('in-laws' in southern Sweden). If I had to damn it with faint praise I'd say that part of the country is pleasant enough but without anything that stands out as a 'killer' must go tourist feature. What is a killer though is the slog up through northern Germany to get there. If you've only got six days total you're going to have to use the autobahn and 'route 1' is fast becoming second only to the M25 as my pet hate road. Slightly more expensive than Germany overall but not enough to worry about.

Hi, I'm from Flensburg which is at the border to Denmark.
Schleswig-Holstein and Denmark will be a nice contrast to the south of Germany.
I can recommend riding up along the east coast, road B76, from Lübeck which is a world heritage city. The landscape around Plön is beautiful as well as the small town and beach of Eckernförde. Flensburg and its Harbour are worth seeing, too.
Afterwords you could go west and ride up along the west coast of Denmark.
On the island of Romo you can (and are allowed to!) ride on the very wide beach. There are many nice beaches with dunes and good waves on the coast of the north sea. Good camping. Denmark is not a lot more expensive than Germany.

Hi Gogsyboy,

take the highway and ride to the top of denmark. Take the ferry (2 hours) and do a loop in the south of Norway - you will be blasted away from the beauty of norway.

... which applies to northern Germany as well IMHO. The only curves are when you have to turn off at a junction
