Hi!

India is a vast country. You have alot many things to sight see in India .I can understand how difficult it is to plan out things accordingly.Indian govt has provided alot of facilities for the tourist. So you dont have to actually worry about it.I would suggest you few luxury trains like
http://the-maharajas.com/
which could help you a comfort journey.

Places you might consider visiting when in India are

Kargil - Leh - Manali:
Leh is a very popular destination among motorcycle riders. There are a number of places you can visit near leh. Khardung La pass is one of them, which is the 18000+ feet. I had recently been to leh on my bike

Goa - Kerla:
Goa is along the west coast of India. It is a very popular tourist destination. It's laid back and tourist-friendly

Gujarat, Rajasthan:
Here, there are many palaces, forts etc. Also Rajasthan is a desert area.

Sikkim, Darjeeling :
These lie in north-eastern India and are famous for tea plantations

Other places are kolkata, and southern India

What vehicle are you taking? How long is the duration? What time of year?

When we got to India we headed straight for Kashmir & Ladakh and started scribbling on a big map during the month we spent there. As crappy as LP gets, it provided a starting point for the general sights & areas we didnt want to miss. India is huge and crammed full of culture and natural beauty.

Nice thread. Heading to India as well, from Oz. thinking of travelling north, Leh seems nice. Any advice on months to avoid the north?

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
