Hi sykesy and welcome,
No visa required for this trip, just pack and go, check with your insurance company but you should be covered for most of these countries but might need to buy some at the border in a couple of places such as Albania.
have a good trip.

Any visas will be available at the borders. Check your insurance for some Balkan states (Bosnia) you may need to extend your cover with your insurer (Green Card) or buy at the border. Check your route to pass through Serbia and Kosovo, I think you can only go Serbia to Kosovo and not the other way.

As the guys above have said, no visas but get your green card insurance sorted in advance of you can. I got stung for $60 at the Macedonian border. Kosovo was only €15. At the Albanian border, the guard asked me for insurance and I told him I need to buy insurance so he shouted, "Insurance" at me so I said I need to buy it again. He then got angry, pulled his gun and called his boss over. The boss guy looked at my V5 and drivers licence, looked at me and said, "Manchester United". I said, "Chelsea" at which he laughed, handed me my papers and waved me through. Bizarre.

Don't forget Luxembourg, Moldova, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Monaco and Andorra. Have a great trip.

Turkey has a visa system; see elsewhere in the HUBB. It changed recently to an electronic, online based application system I have read; whereas, last time I went there it was purchased at the border - I don't know if that remains an option.

I too found Mr Angry at the border in Albania, although no guns were drawn. I thought perhaps he was just having a bad day, clearly not. We all parted as friends in the end............I think.

Yes you will need visa and insurance for Turkey. Visa online is easy.

Good catch. It was €15 at the border when I was there.

My guy was at the Prizren to Kukes border. The gun was never pointed but was unholstered.

Not the best way to welcome travelers to your country is it. I entered on the E86 from greece to bilisht in albania ( I checked spelling )

Interesting that you should post this question only 4 days before I was thinking pretty much the same thing sykesy. I've also been lurking for quite some time and am thinking about some sort of month long trip in October. Actually I was thinking of riding to the site of Troy and then back.

Regards

Ozzy

If I`m right, you will need only a VISA to non-European-Union countries and Turkey for sure.

You need to double check also for - Albania and Kos. Not quite sure if they will allow to pass you just like that.
