You dont need much of a map for this trip if you are a first timer.Get the AAA map for Mex and the one for south and central America and you are set. Then in MNexico you can buy the motre detailed map books of Quimera or Guia Roji Make your way south along any of the black lines to Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas then carry forth on Mex 190 to Cd.Cuauhtemoc /La Mesilla border crossing into Guatemala. This puts you on the Panamerican highway CA1 , a very good and scenic highway , which you can follow to Antigua.Plenty to see along the way.
From there keep going to Guatemala city and from there take CA9 north east to then turn north on either CA14 to Coban ( beauty road and scenery) and then to the Peten, or farther on turn north on CA13 which takes you to the Peten thru less mountainous terrain by way of Rio Dulce.
In the peten visit TIKAL then to Belize, do the tourist thing and then into the Yucatan . Here you can spend lots of time doing a big loop Tulum-Cancun-Valladolid -Merida-Campeche with all kinds of ruin sites or head west on Mex 186 to stop off for Palenque , then to Villahermosa, and the road back to the US.
Do all this and you should be good for a month, more if you can spare the time.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
