Netherlands to Australia by electric car! Feel free to join

From March 15 I'm going to travel from Holland to Australia by electric car. Without any money but by asking people to 'plug me in' with food, a place to sleep or energy for the car. People can offer energy on the website plugmeinproject.com, by doing this they not only recharge my batteries but also set the route of the destination, I will travel from plug to plug. In return for their energy Ill offer them a Dopper, a sustainable water bottle.
The goal of the journey is to make a documentary about sustainability.

The route can go 2 ways. Either via Russia, Kazachstan and China or Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India and Myanmar. Then both possibilities will finish with Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. From Singapore the car will be shipped to Perth.
The range of the car is 250km so many stops have to be made.

Ok I'm probably going to upset some people (especially the OP) but I'm dead against this sort of project. As residents of the first world we are incredibly priveliged in our freedom to travel and we have enormous riches compared to many. To do a trip through poorer (often very very much poorer ) countries and to rely on hospitality which is invariably given much more generously and spontaneously by those who can least afford it I think is the ultimate first world abuse. This is not an adventure this is using someone else to subsidise you.

You can have your own opinion about it. If you checked the website you could have seen that im exchanging with locals too, not only receiving.

I did check the website, but I'm afraid I still hook my view. Obviously I don't know you or your detailed attitudes, and I appreciate you are doing it with best intentions. So I'll leave it that we have different opinions and value sets and wish you well and safe travels.

You will need a Carnet, Insurance, Visas and a guide to cross China and or Myanmar... so its not cheap

Will be hard doing it with out any money, how do you plan to pay for the above?

I´ve been staying with local people on that route.. But, as others have already pointed out, should one really plan to do the trip depending on it, or “without any money”, as we are financially much better off than many of those people? (Well, I actually got invited to stay with some Aussies, too, and they were obviously rich compared to me, but that´s another story!)

So, I do not mean to start arguing, and the trip itself is a great idea, but that one thing really is something to think about. And remember, that accommodations & food are a lot cheaper, once you leave the EU, and before you reach Oz. Been 8 years since I was on that route, but I still think it is generally this way, if you are “a Westerner”.

Plus I think you are already running a bit late, if your start is only a few weeks away, as you will have to work out the route you´re gonna take, in order to reach Southeast Asia. And there is no “simply ride/drive straight through”-route, each route will have its own set of problems, red tape, costs, dodgy areas etc. You probably need to establish contact with a tour operator in China, or alternatively your Carnet provider right away, if you plan to do this soon.

Well, even if I offend someone:

This is parasitic behaviour, in my opinion.
You trade a waterbottle of some cents for accomodation, electricity, food ...?
Are you kidding?
The fact alone that you are travelling by your own car makes you rich.
My suggestion:
sell the car and take the money and pay for your own expenses, and walk by foot.

I really dislike parasites.
