Seattle to Gwaii Haanas (BC, Canada) and back

My husband and I rode from Seattle to the Gwaii Haanas national park on the Haida Gwaii island in British Columbia, Canada (and back). It took us two weeks on our BMW 700GS.

We've just added our trip report to our website, which you can find here: Pixelicious Planet - British Columbia, Canada

We hope you enjoy it!

Beatriz, you two need to enter our Photo Contest, and of course come to an HU Meeting and tell us about your travels - we'd love to see more!

Thank you Gipper, I agree - there are so many beautiful places close by waiting to be explored!

Grant - We would absolutely love to go to a HU meeting. We would love to connect with like minded people, and I am certain we would learn a ton! We seriously considered going to the one in California, but it's hard for us to take time off work at the moment. Do you have any plans to arrange a meeting in the Pacific Northwest?

Thanks for letting me know about the photo contest. I'm going to choose a few photos to submit. Fingers crossed

We will keep posting our motorcycle travels here. Thank you so much for checking out our travelog!

Pacific Northwest - like British Columbia? We just had the CanWest Meeting in beautiful Nakusp, in the Monashee Mountains. People come from all over the PNW, and Canada for that one. This year was the 15th! It's always the last weekend before Labour Day.

See the Events page for schedule of events.

I saw your submissions, excellent!
Do spend a bit of time browsing the mega menu at the top - that will lead you to all sorts of wonderful places on the site - at over 130,000 pages, there's lots that can be a little tricky to find if you're new to HU. And there's new stuff coming in the next week!

See Link to Us | Horizons Unlimited to get a link back to your site too.
have fun!

Thank you Grant. We'll consider the CanWest event next year. In the meantime, we'll get familiar with the site and community. It seems like a fantastic resource!

I really enjoyed your photos. Although I've been riding street bikes in BC for close to 25 years, I've never been up to Haida Gwaii... as you found, it's rather out of the way!

Thank you for checking out our travelog - I'm glad you liked the photos!

Yes, Gwaii Haanas is very remote! We had the only bike on the ferry there, and we were quite the attraction while riding.

We'd like to explore other parts of BC now. Have you ridden to Bella Coola? We were considering exploring that road sometime.

That just made my day Thank you!

Let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement or any other kind of constructive feedback at all.

I'm working on our next travelog now, about our recent trip to Papua New Guinea (not on motorcycle!!). It should come out in a month or so. I'm also planning our next motorcycle trip, for next year, to Mexico.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
