Mongolia Northern Route
Just a quick update as when we were in UB Oasis the consensus seemed to be the Northern road was impassable due to the unusual summer.
Currently sat in Barnaul trying to google the biker bars location having just completed the Northern route (western half, we cut cross country from Tsetserleg on minor tracks)
we went without any major dramas with the exception of the large flood plain and the last river before the mountain pass to Tsaaganuur
the river there was neck deep in places and not passable where the gps told me the track used to be, however about 2km upstream there was a way across, it was right to the snorkel (saddle high)on my friends xt660z mind you
beautiful scenery, glad we went that way and took the gamble, thought this info might be helpful to someone

Chris, "German Bloke"'s mate on the black Trannie here. Good to hear you made it and that the gps tracks were of use.
The gps reference for Barnaul's Biker's Bar is N53 20.287 E83 46.405
You'll recognise it when you see it

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
