Belarus anybody ?

Hello,

Is Belarus still open to tourists ?
I checked several official Western governmental websites which all recommend not to go but land borders seem to be at least partially open.
Has anyone dared to go or heard of someone who did in recent months ?

Tried getting a visa 1 year ago. The guy said that only air entry is possible. No visas will be given in advance I was told.

But I'd suggest calling the Belarusian embassy, they would know.

And please let us know how it goes!

I got my visa in January 2020 and I was just one day away from the border when the closure of the Polish borders forced me to throw in the towel and head back home.
I plan to resume my ride in the early spring.
I have lost all interest in crossing Russia in the present circumstances ( my original plan was to reach Central Asia overland ) but I would like to hear first or second hand stories of people who have recently been in order to decide whether I shall cross Belarus off or not as well.
I don't really have to go since I am rerouting the first months of the ride towards the Baltic States, Southern Scandinavia and Iceland.
On New Year's Eve I was at a party where a Belarusian seeking asylum in France was invited.
I won't go into too many details here but the situation there has become unlivable for political opponents.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
