USA Continental Divide July 2016, and...

Kia ora from Aotearoa/NZ to all riders! ADVENTURE, SEX, MONEY, SUCCESS, WINNING, FREEDOM!! Now that I have ur attention...

I'm booked for LAX arrival late June 2016 to ride the Continental Divide (most of it anyhow) and make a massive loop CA-AZ-UT-(NM-CO-ID-WY-MN continental divide)-WA (rest 1wk)-OR-CA. I've ridden and traveled the states b4, also toured Europe last year and Himalayas this year both for 2months partially solo and partially with friends.

I'm ideally after a similar bike swap for here in NZ with my bike (i have the perfect DS in my BMW 650x challenge), or i'll buy/sell.

I'm also looking for ride buddies since I don't have a mate confirmed from here yet. Off road trail riding is better with a buddy or 3. If anyone is keen, please don't b shy. Also any info or offers are all greatly appreciated in advance, regardless how it ends up! Thx

BTW there's also a plan for a shorter Baja return trip to Cabo afterwards...hot in August!

safety in numbers...

well this will likely be the last post from me in here unless others post and want to join. we are all set to go, one XR650 Honda and my g650x challenge. I start from Los Angeles and do a big loop riding CDR north, and Stan is meeting me in NM to ride north but starting in Edmonton, AB.

This is best done with other riders, so you don't have issues in the middle of nowhere in the mtns, so let us know if you care to join up. The dates are starting from NM around 3 July and slightly earlier from LA for me. Stan will be riding from early June to NM from Canada.

One kiwi, one scot, and...adventure

NO, this is the last post! It was a blast. Stan had a good ride but took off to see his g/f after about 5days to pick up the pace, and myself and Paul the English Canadian carried on until Wyoming...where Paul broke his leg! We met a younger guy 2days prior outside of Rawlings who happened to be heading north too on the CDR and was stoked to find us. I was stoked he did too, as he and I carried on after getting Paul sorted at hospital, getting his bike back, and him sorting a UHAUL...back to New York!
Dillon and I carried on all the way to the border with awesome rides including a successful climb UP Fleecer's Hill (I made it, Dillon met me around, as it was 4tiers of gnarly on a 650x loaded with me and gear). We said our goodbyes at the border to Canada and I carried on to find new adventures and friends in Alberta, Banff, and all around BC mountain country for a week or so, before heading back to Washington state friends. After 2weeks with them, I headed back to LA...good times and flawless bike (punctures aside as I had about 4)!

Here's a vid I put together if u r reading this...go ride the CDR (and around it like Silverton/Ouray/Telluride/Lake City) it's a dream route! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xdZKJXTsdc

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
