Cheapy satnav options?

Me and my other half have been sharing (her) Garmin Montana 600 for a few years, but next year we're going to be going off in opposite directions for a bit so I'm eyeing up another satnav ... but I don't want to spend money if I can avoid it.

I already have a ram mount for the Montana, but I'm not above just taping something in place (my previous bike had a travel compass taped to the handlebars, and it was fine, but I'd like to make the jump to a technological solution). I'm having warm feelings towards the Oregon 450 because it looks like they go for about 100 euros in as-new condition - is that a decent option?

Is there some other brand that would also take OSM maps and wouldn't break if dropped? (seriously, the Montana has been punted, dropped at 70mph, soaked in mud and water, and it's still in good nick).

Any advice gratefully received!

As your used too a Montana 600,and yes they are very rugged as you know..
I would opt for looking at getting another one,

If your going for another make or the Oregon,would it hold up too the rigours that

Our Colorado 300 has given good service for over a decade - a used one would be another alternative. The benefit of another Montana 600 is that you're used to it.

Unfortunately used Montana 600s run to at least €320, too much to use for occasional use!

I've figured out that for what I need a Dakota 20 is going to be the best price/performance (it's almost exactly the same as an Oregon 450), there's lots of used ones for under €80 so I can pick and choose a nice one and then make my own mount

How about getting a cheap rugged waterproof smartphone and using an app of your choice? I have been using OsmAnd and Google maps but there are literally dozens of choices.

I've not had much success with mobile apps - I've tried google maps and maps.me, neither seemed to work half as well as the Garmin in edge scenarios (loss of mobile signal, roads that move seasonally, checking for topography, being able to swap batteries, etc), that's why I'd prefer to have a dedicated piece of hardware and use my mobile as a backup
